Barbican London Exhibition | Curtain Pole Set-Up for Beatriz González Installation

Overview

Linear Furnishings Ltd supplied a curtain pole set-up for use in the Beatriz González exhibition at the Barbican, London.

The set-up was used to support a large wall-hanging artwork within the exhibition space, requiring a clean and discreet solution spanning approximately 6 metres.

The Project

The installation required a straightforward and reliable solution that could:

• Span a 6 metre width
• Support a suspended fabric artwork
• Work within a gallery environment
• Keep a minimal visual presence

Our Solution

We supplied a simple curtain pole set-up made up of connected metal pole lengths, supported by brackets and finished with finials and end stoppers.

To hang the artwork, crocodile clip-style rings were used so the fabric could be secured without the need for a traditional curtain heading. This allowed the artwork to be displayed cleanly and effectively.

Outcome

The finished installation successfully supported the artwork throughout the exhibition while keeping a clean and unobtrusive appearance within the gallery space.

We were also pleased to see the installation featured in the Barbican’s exhibition media, along with positive feedback from the installation team.

• Metal curtain poles (connected lengths) - 32mm Extra long lengths of curtain pole
• Brackets - 32mm metal standard centre brackets
• Finials and end stoppers - 32mm Stopper finials
• Clip rings (crocodile clip style) sourced elsewhere
